Korean Ship Owner Side –

1. “동아탱커, 선대 재 정비를 위해 STX해양 조선에 신조 발주”/Dong-A Tanker is rebuilding its fleet with a deal at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding
- Pine Tree Partners에서 관리하고 있는 동아태커는 현재 자국 STX해양 조선에 6척의 MR탱커를 발주하였다고 밝혔습니다.
2척은 확정 물량이며, 옵션은 2 + 2를 포함하고 있다고 확인되었습니다. 해당 선박의 인도는 2022년 말부터 2023 2분기까지 순차적으로 선주사로 인도될 예정입니다.  

- Dong-A Tanker under the control of compatriot private equity firm Pine Tree Partners is said to have inked a deal for up to six MR tanker newbuildings at a domestic shipyard.
The Seoul-based outfit is said to have ordered the 50,000-dwt ships at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding. The deal involved two firm vessels and two sets of two optional ships.
The vessels are slated to take delivery of the first at the end of next year and a second in early 2023.

North East Asia Ship Owner Side –
1. CDB Leasing 신조MR 10척 매입”/CDB Leasing in for 10 MR resales
- CDB Leasing은 자국내 New Times 조선소에서 건조 중인50,000dwt MR 탱커선 10척을 매입하였다고 밝혔습니다.
자세한 내용은 밝히지 않았으나, 이름이 밝혀지지 않은 선주사로 하여금 해당 선박 모두 용선될 예정이라고 알렸습니다.
New Times 조선소 주무대장에 자국 선주사인 Shangdong Shipping에서 50,000dwt MR탱커 10척을 발주한 것으로 보아 해당 선주사로 하여금 해당 선박을 매입한 것으로 추측됩니다.

- Chinese financial house CDB Leasing has agreed to buy ten 50,000 dwt MR product tankers under construction at New Times Shipbuilding.
CDB Leasing said the ships will be chartered to an unnamed company via an operating lease agreement at floating rates. No further details have been disclosed.
A glance at New Times orderbook suggests the deal has been done with compatriot Shandong Shipping.
Splash reported in April on Shandong Shippings decision to order ten 50,000 dwt MRs at the yard in question.

2. CULines, 자국 Yangzijiang 조선소에 2척의 컨테이너선 발주”/CULines orders two containerships from Yangzijiang Shipbuilding
- 급속도로 확장하고 있는 CULines 2,400teu 피터 컨테이너선 2척을 자국 Yangzijiang 조선소에 발주하였다고 밝혔습니다.
해당 선박들은 2023년에 모두 인도될 예정으로 Intra-Asia 서비스를 위해 투입될 예정입니다.
해당 발주는 올해들어 2번째 신조 발주로 올해 초 자국 CSSC Huangpu Wenchong 조선소에 1,900teu 4척을 기 발주하였습니다.

- Rapidly expanding China United Lines (CULines) has signed shipbuilding contract with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for the construction of two 2,400 teu containerships.
The 2,400 teu containerships are due for delivery in 2023 and will be deployed on intra-Asia services.
It is the second containership newbuilding orders placed by CULines this year following four 1,900teu boxships it contracted with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong shipyard.

3 NYK 12척의 LNG 추진 자동차선 발주”/NYK orders 12 LNG-fuelled car carriers
- NYK12척의 LNG 추진 자동차선을 발주 준비를 하였다고 밝혔습니다. 해당 발주는 일본내 2 조선소로 나뉘어 발주될 예정입니다.
한곳은 Shin Kurushima 조선소 다른 한 곳은 Nihon 조선소 입니다. 해당 선박 사이즈는 7,000 자동차를 운송할 수 있는 크기로 건조될 예정이며, 인도는 2025년에서 2028년 사이에 모두 인도될 예정입니다.

- Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) is set to order 12 LNG-fuelled car carriers. The order split between two Japanese yards is the largest Japanese contract for LNG-fuelled ships.
The order will be split 50:50 between Shin Kurushima Dockyard and Nihon Shipyard. The ships will be able to transport 7,000 cars each and the ships would deliver from 2025 to 2028.

1. IMO, EEXI CII 등급제 도입 결정”/IMO agrees carbon reduction targets
- IMO MEPC 76차 회의에서 EEXI(Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index, 현존선에너지효율지수)와 CII(Carbon Intensity Indicator, 탄소집약도지표) 도입을 결의. 해당 규제는 2023년 1월부터 시행 예정.
- EEXI는 선박 운항 시 배출하는 탄소 배출량 관련 규제. 신규건조 선박에만 적용되던 EEDI와 달리 400 GT 이상의 국제항해 현존선들에 모두 적용되며 EEXI 지수 계산 공식에 의해 도출되는 최소효율기준을 준수할 것을 요구. - CII는 탄소 배출량을 매년 측정하여 에너지 효율에 따라 선박의 등급을 분류. 하위 등급인 D, E로 분류될 경우 SEEMP(선박에너지효율관리계획) 제출을 요구. 개선 조치가 이루어지지 않으면 시장 퇴출. - 규제 시행과 함께 탄소배출 절감안으로 2023~2026년 연간 최소 2%의 탄소 감축을 통해 4년간 기존 탄소배출량 대비 11% 개선 목표를 제시. 서구권 제안(연간 최소 4% 감축, 4년간 22%) 대비 완화된 형태로 합의.
- The IMO MEPC 76 adopted a short-term annual ship CO2 intensity reduction target aimed at meeting the target set in the Initial GHG Strategy to reduce carbon intensity of all ships by 40% by 2030, compared to 2008.
These will be mandatory measures under MARPOL Annex VI. Reports say the measures adopted at MEPC 76 represent an estimated 11% improvement by 2026 compared to 2019 levels.
- Attained Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) is required to be calculated for ships of 400 gt and above, in accordance with the different values set for ship types and size categories.
This indicates the energy efficiency of the ship compared to a baseline. Ships are required to meet a specific required Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI), which is based on a required reduction factor
(expressed as a percentage relative to the EEDI baseline).
- Annual operational carbon intensity indicator (CII) and CII rating. The CII determines the annual reduction factor needed to ensure continuous improvement of the ships operational carbon intensity within a specific rating level.
The actual annual operational CII achieved (attained annual operational CII) would be required to be documented and verified against the required annual operational CII. This would enable the operational carbon intensity rating to be determined.
The rating would be given on a scale operational carbon intensity rating A, B, C, D or E indicating a major superior, minor superior, moderate, minor inferior, or inferior performance level.
The performance level would be recorded in the ships Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP).
A ship rated D for three consecutive years, or E, would have to submit a corrective action plan, to show how the required index (C or above) would be achieved.

 

2. Maersk 세계 최초 메탄올 추진 컨테이너선 발주”/Maersk pencils in pioneering trio of methanol-fuelled containerships
- AP Moller-Maersk는 세계 최초의 메탄올 추진 컨테이너 피더선 신조 발주를 추진하고 있습니다. 현재 해당 선주사는 현대 미포 조선소와 3척에 대한 건조의향서를 체결한 것으로 전해집니다.
아직 선박 사이즈는 정확하게 규정되지 않았으나, 머스크가 이미 소개한 초저유황유와 메탄올을 동시에 사용할 수 있는 메탄올 추진 선박으로 선형은 2,000teu급이며, 현대 미포조선이 건조할 수 있는
최대 규모는 3,500teu급이기 때문에 2,000 3,500teu급으로 발주될 것으로 분석되고 있습니다.
그린 메탄올은 재생원료로부터 발생된 수소와 생물학적 공급원료 또는 공기중에서 이산화탄소를 채집하여 생산됨에 따라, 탄소 중립 연료로 간주되고 있습니다.
메탄올은 황산화물을 배출하지 않으며, 대기 미립자 물질 그리고 질소산화물은 매우 소량 배출하게 됩니다. 또한 메탄올은 다른 탄소 중립 연료 물질인 LNG, 암모니아, 수소보다 연료로써 사용함에 있어 저장이 쉽고 사용이 용이합니다.
하지만, 단점이라면 LNG 또는 기존의 화석연료보다는 낮은 에너지 함유량을 가지고 있어 다른 연료유와 동일한 에너지함유량을 가지기 위해서 2.5배의 저장 공간이 요구됩니다.

- AP Moller-Maersk is moving forward on plans to build what look set to be the worlds first methanol-­fuelled container feederships.
Newbuilding sources said the company has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) for three vessels.
Vessel size details remain hazy, but brokers said the yard can build feederships of up to 3,500 teu. Maersk has previously referenced plans for methanol-fuelled boxships of 2,000-teu capacity.
Green methanol is deemed ­carbon-neutral as it is produced using hydrogen from renewable sources and CO2 from the atmosphere, from either a biological feedstock or direct air capture.
Methanol emits no SOx or ­particulate matter and little NOx. It is easier to store and handle than LNG, ammonia and hydrogen.
But it has a lower energy content than LNG or conventional fuels and requires around 2.5 times more storage space for the same energy content.

3. “파나마 운하, 통항 가능한 전장 3MTR늘려 대형 선박 통항 가능”/Panama Canal adds three metres to maximum vessel length for transits
- 파나마 운항청에 따르면, 네오 파나막스급 대형 컨테이너선 대응을 위해 운하 최대 전장을 367.28MTR에서 370.33MTR로 늘렸다고 발표하였습니다.
이로써 전 세계 컨테이너선의 96.8%가 파나마운하를 통과할 수 있게 되었습니다.

- The Panama Canal has increased the maximum allowable length for vessels transiting its neo-panamax locks.
The waterway's authority revealed that since 21 May, ships of up to 370.33 metres have been permitted to pass through, up from 367.28 metres previously.
The change was made in time for the fifth anniversary of the waterway's June 2016 expansion with the new locks, and it means 96.8% of the world's boxship fleet can now transit the canal.
